Film Showing: Prince Among Slaves

As part of CBU's Student Services diversity events held this spring, the Library is sponsoring a free showing of the film Prince Among Slaves. Prince Among Slaves is the true story of Abdul Rahman Sori, an African prince from the legendary kingdom of Timbuktu. He was captured by slave traders in 1788 and sold into slavery in the American South. Living enslaved for 40 years, he ultimately regained his freedom, became a national celebrity, and returned home to Africa shortly before his death. For more information about the film, see the PBS website.

The film will be shown on Thursday, March 20, 6:30 p.m., in CBU's Spain Auditorium.

Professor of anthropology, Mary Campbell, and librarian, Benjamin Head, will follow the film with a discussion.

Refreshments will be provided afterward.
