Movie Magazine History

http://mediahistoryproject.org/

If you like vintage movies or are interested in motion picture, radio, or broadcast history, here's a site for you. The Media History Digital Library provides free access to scans of public domain movie magazines published, for the most part, during the first half of the 20th century. Motion Picture Magazine (1914-1941), Photoplay (1914-1943), and Variety (1905-1926) are some of the long-runs of titles available. Many other titles--including trade publications, international publications, fan magazines--are included, with more to come. Content is continually added.

News of the industry, business dealings, movie star gossip, fashion photography, and technological papers are among the things you'll find at this site. As the magazines are scanned cover-to-cover, you'll also have access to vintage advertising as it actually appeared.

A search function has been recently added to the site.

Primary source material on the history of cinema, broadcasting, and recorded sound is at your fingertips.
