Copyright and CourseWare - Avoid Infringement

Faculty: Unless it is in the public domain or available to you through an existing license, anything you post to an electronic environment is protected by copyright. Measure any use you make of a copyrighted work against fair use; ask permission to use anything that is not fair use; and remember the following:
-you should use only small portions of copyrighted works;
-you should not post material as a substitute for the purchase of books required for class;
-any scans must be made from originals owned by you (the instructor) or your academic library;
-your material should only be accessible by students enrolled in the class;
-material must come down at the end of the semester;
-scans must include the copyright notice from the original as well as a complete citation to the material.
