History of Muslims in the United States

Dr. Edward E. Curtis, editor of The Columbia Sourcebook of Muslims in the United States (Columbia University Press, 2008), will speak on the topic of Muslim contributions to the United States from 1776 to the present on Thursday, July 18, 2013, at the Benjamin L. Hooks Central Library, in meeting rooms A-C.

There will be a reception at 5:30 p.m.; the lecture begins at 6 p.m.

Hosted by Memphis Public Library and Information Center and sponsored by Humanities Tennessee, the lecture is part of Memphis Public Library, the University of Memphis' Libraries, and Christian Brothers University's Plough Library's year of events related to their receipt of the NEH/ALA grant, Bridging Cultures: Muslim Journeys. Dr. Curtis' Columbia Sourcebook (call #973.08 C65) is one of the books selected for the Muslim Journeys Bookshelf. It is available at Plough Library for check out.
