eBook: Guide to Culturally Competent Health Care

Larry Purnell's Guide to Culturally Competent Health Care (F.A. Davis, 2010) is available online to students, faculty, and staff of Christian Brothers University through EBSCO eBooks as well as the STAT!Ref Nursing collection.

There are chapters for twenty-seven ethnic heritage groups: African-Americans, Arabs, Bosnians, Chinese, Cubans, European-Americans, Filipinos, Germans, Greeks, Haitians, Hindus, Hmong, Iranians, Irish, Italians, Japanese, Jews, Koreans, Mexicans,  Navajos, Puerto Ricans, Russians, Somalis, Turks, and Vietnamese.

Each chapter includes material on communications, family roles, work issues, high-risk behaviors, nutrition, pregnancy and childbirth, death rituals, spirituality, and health care practices.
