Melton's Encyclopedia of American Religions

Melton's Encyclopedia of American Religions (2009) covers the 2000+ religious groups of North America.

Categorized by family, Melton's Encyclopedia covers many religious groups such as: Western Liturgical, Eastern Liturgical, Lutheran, Holiness, Pentecostal, Baptist, Adventist, Middle Eastern, Eastern, Western Esoteric. Each family is further sub-divided into specific groups which are discussed regarding their history, beliefs and practices, and how they spread in both the United States and Canada.

In addition to discussions of particular religious groups, the encyclopedia also includes essays on the development of religion in North America, religion in Canada, and American religion in the twenty-first century.

Melton's Encyclopedia is part of the Gale Virtual Reference Library.
