CREDO reference library is an online collection of numerous reference resources--encyclopedias, dictionaries, images--, useful for retrieving basic information about a topic fast. With many searches, the top-most entry will be a Credo Topic Page about your subject. Topic pages pull definitions, images from Credo, entries from Credo, images from the WikiMedia Commons, videos from YouTube, books from Google, links to searches on the same subject in the Gale Virtual Reference Library, Academic Search Premier, JSTOR, and the library catalog.
Using "Halloween" as a search example, you'll retrieve a topic page with information pulled from the Encyclopedia of Medieval Literature, Chambers' Dictionary of the Unexpected, Brewer's Dictionary of Phrase and Fable, the Hutchinson Unabridged Encyclopedia, and the Holidays, Festivals, and Celebrations of the World Dictionary. (And if you need additional material, look below the link to the Topic Page on the results list for much more.)
Each Credo entry includes suggested citations in APA, MLA, Chicago, and Turabian styles for use in bibliographies.
Credo is a subscription database and is available to the students, faculty, and staff of Christian Brothers University.
